Welcome to Signly AI ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application, Signly AI, a sign language learning and recognition application.
In short: Signly AI is an entirely offline application. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Your usage stays on your device.
📦 Information We Collect
Signly AI operates with a zero data collection policy:
- No account registration — The app requires no sign-up, login, or personal information to use.
- No personal data — We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, locations, or any personally identifiable information.
- No usage analytics — We do not track how you use the app, which features you open, or how long you spend in the app.
- No crash reports — We do not use any crash reporting or diagnostic tools.
- No advertising — The app contains no ads and does not use any advertising SDKs.
Local storage only: The app stores data locally on your device using encrypted key-value storage (SharedPreferences). This includes your quiz scores, favorite signs, daily goals, and app preferences. This data never leaves your device.
📷 Camera & Video Processing
Signly AI uses your device camera for real-time sign language recognition. Here is exactly what happens:

Key guarantee: All machine learning inference — including hand detection (MediaPipe) and sign classification (TensorFlow Lite) — runs 100% on your device. No camera data is ever transmitted off your device.
💾 Local Data Storage
Signly AI uses SharedPreferences to store data locally on your device. Here is what is stored:

Your data, your device: All stored data resides exclusively on your device. You can clear all app data at any time through your device settings, which will reset the app to its default state.
🌐 Internet & Network Access
Signly AI declares the INTERNET permission, but this is used exclusively for:
- Loading sign demonstration videos from the app's own servers (if available)
- Potential future updates to learning content
The app does not send any of the following to any server:
- Personal information
- Camera data or images
- Usage statistics or analytics
- Device identifiers
- Location data
🔗 Third-Party Services
Signly AI does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
We do not use:
- Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics
- Facebook SDK or any social media tracking
- Advertising networks (AdMob, Unity Ads, etc.)
- Crash reporting services (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
- Push notification services
- Data brokers or analytics providers
Open-source libraries: The app uses open-source Flutter packages (flutter_bloc, go_router, video_player, etc.) for UI and functionality. None of these libraries transmit data to third parties when used as we have configured them.
👶 Children's Privacy
Signly AI is designed to be accessible to users of all ages, including children under 13. We take children's privacy seriously:
- The app does not collect any personal information from any user, including children.
- No account creation is required to use the app.
- No data is transmitted off the device.
- The app contains no advertisements or in-app purchases.
- The app contains no links to external websites or social media.
COPPA compliance: Since Signly AI does not collect any personal information, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide.
🔒 Data Security
We employ the following measures to protect the limited data stored locally on your device:
- All data is stored locally using platform-encrypted storage (SharedPreferences).
- No data is transmitted over the network, eliminating interception risks.
- The app uses secure coding practices and follows Flutter security guidelines.
- ML models and assets are bundled within the app and cannot be accessed by other apps.
However: While we take every reasonable precaution, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to protect your device with a password or biometric lock.
🗑️ Data Deletion
You have full control over your data:
- In-app: You can clear your quiz history and favorites from within the Settings screen.
- Full reset: You can clear all app data through your device settings (Settings → Apps → Signly AI → Clear Data).
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all locally stored data.
No server-side data: Since we do not store any data on our servers, there is no server-side data to delete. Your data exists only on your device.
⚖️ Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Right to access: You can view all data the app stores about you (it's all visible in the app itself).
- Right to deletion: You can delete all app data at any time via device settings.
- Right to portability: Since data is stored locally, you have full control over it.
- Right to object: The app does not process data for any purpose that requires your consent.
- Right to withdraw consent: You can revoke camera permission at any time through device settings.
🌍 International Users
Signly AI is available worldwide. Since the app operates entirely offline and does not transmit any data, it complies with international privacy regulations including:
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation — European Union)
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act — United States)
- COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act — United States)
- PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection — Canada)

No cross-border data transfer: Since no data leaves your device, there are no cross-border data transfers to worry about.
